Academy 18133 STEAM LOCO PENYDARREN
This first steam locomotive designed by English inventor Richard Trevithick has been reproduced in this snap together, operational kit. The original used a single vertical cylinder, 8 ft. flywheel and long piston rod. It was the first steam engine to successfully run on rails. It turned the exhaust up the chimney to produce a draft which helped draw the fire’s hot gases forcefully through the boiler. It travelled at a speed of 5 miles an hour on its first trip, pulling ten tons of iron, 70 passengers and five wagons
