1:100 Sonderkraftfahrzeug 184 Ferdinand Heavy Tank Destroyer
The German self-propelled gun (SPG) Elefant is famously known as Ferdinand (after the designer Ferdinand Porsche). The history of creating this SPG started in 1942 when prototypes of heavy tanks, developed by Porsche and Henschel took part in tests. The tank developed by Ferdinand Porsche failed to win. Therefore, it was decided to create a self-propelled gun based on the chassis of that tank. Ferdinands had a powerful defense armor and were armed with 88 mm guns, but had several construction flaws. Particularly, the poor performance and the lack of antipersonnel weapons. In total, about 90 Ferdinands were built.
