1:144 Imperial Chinese Navy Peiyang Squadron Ping Yuen 1890
Pingyuan armored cruiser of the Chinese Navy. Subsequently, the Heien-armored gunboat of the Japanese Navy. He took an active part in the First Sino-Japanese War and the Russo-Japanese War. It became the first and last relatively large ironclad built in Imperial China (only the 200-ton gunboat Jinou was built before it). It was laid down in early 1883 at the shipyard near Fuzhou as the Longwei. The project was developed with the help of French specialists from the Chinese shipbuilders Wei Han, Zheng Qingliang and Wu Dezhang, taking, for example, the Asheron-type armored gunboats deployed in France at the time. After the Franco-Chinese War (1884-1885), construction was interrupted and resumed only in December 1886 - already under the supervision of German instructors. Some sources mention that during construction, due to lack of funds, the length of the ship was reduced, which affected the contours of the ship. In fact, compared to the Asheron prototype, the Lunway's tonnage has already been increased by 1/3, making the ship more seaworthy. In January 1888, Lunwei was launched, and in October she was transferred to Shanghai for refit. It entered service in May 1890. The ship's name was changed to (Peiyang.
