1:35 STZ-5 with BM-13 KATYUSHA
The first experimental launchers BM-13 on the chassis of ZIS-6 vehicles were manufactured in June 1941. For the installation of launchers for BM-13 rocket launchers, different chassis were used - the ZIS-6, then the STZ-5 tracked artillery tractor, and from the beginning of 1942, American, British and Canadian trucks supplied to the USSR under Lend-Lease. On September 30, 1941, the BM-13 multiple rocket launcher based on the STZ-5 tractor was adopted by the Red Army. Mortar regiments of rocket artillery were formed with combat vehicles based on the STZ-5, which had high mobility and were intended for operations as part of tank and cavalry formations.
