1:100 English Brigantine
Combined model - Brigantine. Historical note: The word "Brigantine" comes from "brigand" - "pirate, robber", and, originally, in the 16th century, light pirate ships were called so on the Mediterranean Sea. Later, as piracy spread into the rougher waters of the Atlantic Ocean, the type of ship changed, but the name remained the same. In the 17-18 centuries, the brigantine carried straight sails on both masts, and the terms "brigantine" and "brig" (as an abbreviation for the first) had equal circulation. In the 18th century, brigantines were introduced into navies as messenger and reconnaissance ships. By the middle of the 19th century, the brigantine was finally formed as a type of sailboat: it is a small two-masted sailing ship with straight sails on the front mast (foremast) and oblique sails on the second mast (mainmast), with a displacement of about 350 tons. The brigantine began to differ from the brig in that it did not carry a direct mainsail. In addition to military service and the traditional transportation of goods, these sailboats were also used to transport passengers. At the stern there was a rather spacious wardroom, which can accommodate up to 10 passengers. Main dimensions: length - 46 m, width - 9 m, spars height - 33 m.
