Series 06.000 are the first 6-axle and the first diesel-electric highway locomotives of BDZ. They were built in the Romanian factory Electroputere - Craiova under a Swiss license. They are equipped with a low-speed 12-cylinder diesel engine with two crankshafts, individual fuel pumps for each cylinder and more. Their main purpose is to service freight trains (they lack a generator for electric heating of passenger cars).
This particular locomotive with road number 06 002 was in expolitation from 1988 to 1994 when it was scrapped.
