- The special type destroyer (Fubuki type) is a destroyer developed to strengthen auxiliary ships that were not restricted under the Washington Disarmament Treaty.
- This Sagiri is classified as a special type II, including Ayanami, even among special type destroyers.
-Since commissioned in 1931, Sagiri fought hard in escort missions during the Sino-Japanese War and the Malayan Operation, but was the first special type II destroyer to be lost during the war due to poor luck.
