The DSRV-1 Mystic is an American contemporary ocean rescue submarine vehicle. Entry into service with the US Navy took place in 1970. The total length of the ship is 15 meters and 2.4 meters wide. The underwater displacement is around 37 tons and the maximum underwater speed is up to 4 knots. The unit has no on-board armament. The DSRV-1 Mystic was developed as a result of the crash of the American submarine USS Thresher. The unit was designed in such a way that it could be easily transported on the C-141 Starlifter, which significantly increased its operational capabilities. The main task of the DSRV-1 Mystic is to help the crews of nuclear submarines in all climatic and weather conditions. The unit can operate up to a depth of 1500 meters under the water, which forced the creation of hulls: made of very high strength steel HY-140 and fiberglass. Originally, it was planned to create as many as 12 units of the type, but due to the extremely high costs of research and development and production, only two units were built.
