1:35 German Hf.7 steel field trailer with resin towing fork (Dual pack)
The German army was slow in its introduction of motorized transport and when WWII began many second line units were still using horse drawn transport. The Stahlfeldwagen Hf.7 (steel field wagon) was introduced in 1939 and was produced in several variants. It was a simple steel wagon with four wheels weighing about 1 ton, It was designed to be pulled by two horses and had a load capacity of 1.5 tons. This was adequate for conditions in Western Europe, but many horses died in the harsh environment found on the Russian front. Roads were so bad that often 4 or 6 horse teams had to be used. The Hf.7 was mostly employed as a supply wagon with Infantry Divisions 1939-45. The Hf.7 had a towing hitch to allow it to be towed as a trailer by motor vehicles if these were available. However the Hf.7 was heavy and expensive to produced and it was often replaced by 1 ton wooden wagons better suited to conditions.
