Missouri is the third Iowa-class battleship of the US Navy.
The 16-inch 50-caliber gun Mk.7 mounted on the Iowa class was developed based on the North Carolina-class and South Dakota-class 16-inch 45-caliber gun Mk.6.
Mk.7 used the same ammunition as Mk.6, but it has been increased in power by making it longer-barreled and changing the charge to a low-pressure charge for long-barreled to gain initial velocity.
The turret and hydraulic system have also been redesigned accordingly.
The long-barreled Mk.7 has a faster muzzle velocity, which reduces the effect of wind, has a longer range than the Mk.6, and has improved power and shooting accuracy at close range.
