-The development of a 45-ton class tank requested by the German government in 1941 became a competition between Henschel and Porsche, and finally Henschel's design proposal was adopted, and [Tiger] was born.
- However, Porsche had entered mass production before the rejection was decided, and had produced a considerable number of armor plates.
- Most of them have been converted to Tiger (P) tank destroyers (= Ferdinand / Elephant), but a very small number are deployed as command tanks in the 653rd Heavy Tank Destroyer Battalion.
- The deployed vehicle had armor plates added and the turret and engine replaced.
- This kit is a reproduction of this vehicle.
