The first Soviet submarine with a nuclear power system "Leninsky Komsomol" K-3 was launched in 1957. The submarine was equipped with common torpedoes and nuclear-charged torpedoes. Unlike diesel submarines, nuclear-powered ones were able to travel underwater for long distances and at a greater speed than a common submarine.
