At the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, rifle troops formed the basis of the ground forces. Rifle troops were armed with relatively few models of small arms. The main weapon of the infantry throughout the war remained a rifle with a needle bayonet of S.I. designs. Mosina, as well as simple and reliable submachine gun designs G.S. Shpagina (PPSh-41). An important role in the armament of the infantry was played by Degtyareva's handguns. In the summer of 1942, there was a submachine gun construction A.I. Sudaeva, who entered the series in 1943 under the index PPS-43. The United Workers' and Peasants' Red Army (RKKA), distinguished themselves in battles with the Nazi occupiers, received the rank of Guardsmen. The Soviet Guard made a significant contribution to the victory in the Great Patriotic War.
